The Santa Casa is one of the most important places of Marian devotion and among the most visited Marian sanctuaries of the Catholic Church. According to ancient and authoritative tradition, it consists of three walls believed to be the front part of the cave in Nazareth where the Virgin Mary was born, lived, and received the Annunciation. Devotional tradition tells that the transfer of the Holy House from Nazareth to Loreto was carried out by angels.
