Dame Margaret Barbour designed the Bedale to suit the needs of equestrian riders: it featured a shorter length, a relaxed fit, rear vents, and the essential nylon inner drip strip that prevented horse moisture from seeping into the jacket. Crafted from functional medium-weight (6oz) waxed cotton and compatible with optional zip-in thermal liners and detachable hoods, the Bedale is the perfect all-year-round jacket. The popularity of the Bedale inspired a slimmer women's style—the Beadnell—named after a small fishing village in Northumberland.
